First ride
Round to Sally & Sean's, they are in a 10 acre section in Rangiora. Sean had got himself 5 sheep and a ram and it was shearing time so we took the kids plus a friends' 2 kids to watch it up close. The professional shearer obviously has powerful legs and he gripped that sheep tightly with his knees as he worked the shears. I'm sure Sean can hold that sheep as tightly, but I'm not so sure on his shearing action so he leaves it to the expert. They wriggled a bit and got some cuts for their efforts, but otherwise quick and easy.
The kids also had a go of the quad bike. The last time they had been on it I had ridden it and they both were yelling for me to slow down. They were a bit reluctant to get on it again until I told them they could have a go themselves. Limited to 2nd gear, 20 kph tops and heaps of engine breaking, and with me sat behind each individually they had a go. Starts were a bit kangeroo to begin with, but they both got the hang of it really quickly and were both really sensible at slowing down to pass through gates. I'm telling myself that's because they had their speed thrill before under my control so didn't try it themselves.
They both also had a limited go flying solo, albeit very slowly for a photo opportunity. Their first ride *sigh* it's in their genes.
